Open 22nd Baltic Shotokan Karate Championship
On the 20th of February 2016,at the modern “Cido” Arena in Panevezys town, Lithuania, the 22nd Open Baltic Shotokan Karate Championship took place. Over 300 competitors gathered from Lithuania, Poland, Belarus and Latvia.
Our very own Eduard Valchev from Alfa SKC, competed in the 18-20 year Kumite category and won gold! Eduardalso competed as a member of host Alfa Karate Club’s maleKumite team, where he won his fight and was subsequently picked by the team members for an additional fight. The score was drawn, so an additional fight was needed, where Eduard scored two waza-ari within 20 seconds, securing victory for the team as well! Well done and congratulations Eduard.
Chief Referee, SenseiAlfonsasValuntonis, and many supporters of the Alfa Karate Club were impressed by Eduard’s speed and fight style.
Sensei Albertas Gustis was judging on the day. It was a very good experience to attend the Championship, meet up with family and old friends, and I am sure we have made some new ones as well.
