On the 12th of July, 45 members of Alfa Shotokan Karate Club took part in a joint grading and course with East London JKA Club. The examiners on the day were 4th Dan Sensei Martin Dobson and 3rd Dan Sensei Tony Cronk. One hour of training led by the examiners gave everyone a chance to practice their basics and katas before they undergo their grading. The importance of good stance and basic techniques was emphasised, an essential skill that all the students must have in order to receive their next belt. The grading began with the white belts, and progressed though all the colours to brown. The grading consisted of Basics, Kata and Kumite, each varied from beginner to advanced grades. All the members of Alfa Club performed up to their best ability and showed great spirit and energy. Proud students of Alfa Shotokan Karate Club were awarded new belts after a successful grading.
